In my work as a filmmaker, I immerse myself in different worlds and move along the border where the ordinary meets the extraordinary. I am fascinated by breathing life into characters, letting them struggle for self-determination and recognition, and capturing their emotions and fleeting moments in order to ultimately share them with the audience.
A story must entertain and amuse, but it may also irritate – because only in this way can it stimulate thought and move us.
Mica Agustoni has made a name for herself as a director, editor, and screenwriter of artistic short films. Her films have been screened at numerous festivals. Her short film "The Perfect Dinner" received a special award at the 2011 Golde Panda Awards TV Festival in Sichuan, China.
In 2013, Mica was a scholarship recipient at the Munich Screenwriting Workshop and in 2016 was nominated for the Treatment Award at the Zurich Film Festival with her story "Salmon". The submitted story was subsequently developed as a television film for Swiss television SRF and is currently optioned for streaming.
Mica currently lives and works in Zurich and directs various programs for Swiss Radio and Television SRF.
